i wonder how many witnesses are aware that the wt and their team of lawyers are currently suing the government of norway for millions of dollars?

i thought that the wt taught that all the governments were run by satan.

when i was a witness, this would have really bothered me.

I wish I could have. Like a lot of kids, I went back after a few weeks staying with someone who wasn't baptized. He did it again though, couch hopped at various friends houses that time. They managed to convince me to marry at age 17 to get rid of me. Her JW family was even worse than mine, if you can believe that. My dad told me more than once that he brought me into this world and he could take me out.

One time a school coach asked me if he should call the authorites after he saw all the stripes on my back from a pretty severe belt whipping. My crime? Walking like a chicken with a JW friend of mine at a convention - disrespecting the Organization. I told the coach it was my fault and to not call anyone. I wished he would have anyway. After the failed prediction in 1975, I simply could not take anything my parents or the elders said seriously because I saw with my own eyes that they were all delusional.

Finally quit school when I got old enough at age 16 and travelled as a salesman. Had a very strong knack for business. Probably could have been a Fortune 500 CEO with the proper education. But, I've done well enough with small businesses.

The mental abuse JW parents put kids through is criminal.

why are they so fascinated with following ancient jewish 'principles' ?.

isa 43:10, 44:8 ' you are my witnesses ' which they based their religious identity on, jehovah's witnesses, yet those verses address the jews, not christians, which they profess to be.. jesus said in ac 1:8 'you will be witnesses of me ', .

The message they preach eliminates the possibility of Jesus being the Mediator for a member on Judgment Day, and they teach that virtually no one can have Jesus as their Mediator after 1935. So, they discourage current members from claiming this Christian offer from the Lord.

As a result, the religion is built around willpower to do what is right as opposed to being declared righteous (justified) by grace through faith. Even though Isiah. 64: 6 declares:" all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags", they still believe their good works (passing out literature) will save them.

They teach that Justification is no longer available. So, there really isn't much in the NT that applies with that kind of restriction. ,

Final aruguments were yesterday.... we'll see what happens. As a side note, one report says that WT was forced to reveal it's legal expenses for the law suit- $450,000.00

Remember that the WT teaches that there are only two organizations - Jehovah's and Satan's. JW's need to know that the WT just spent nearly a half million dollars of their donations trying to force Satan to fund them.

I think the early Christians knew, and they wrote about it. What the early Church Elders believed:

Lipsius quotes Iraneus (Bishop of Lyons in 177AD):

"The construction itself of the cross has five ends, two on the vertical and two on the horizontal, and one in the middle where the person attached with nails rested".

Also on page 661 Lipsius has an illustration of a cross with a cross-beam and a foot-rest, upon which a man is nailed, arms outstretched. This is under the heading "De Cruce Liber Secundus".

Irenaeus (early 2nd century – AD 202) remarks that "the very form of the cross, too, has five extremities, two in length, two in breadth, and one in the middle, on which [last] the person rests who is fixed by the nails".

The same remark is made by Justin Martyr (100–165) when commenting on the Book of Deuteronomy 33:17: "For the one beam is placed upright, from which the highest extremity is raised up into a horn, when the other beam is fitted on to it, and the ends appear on both sides as horns joined on to the one horn. And the part which is fixed in the centre, on which are suspended those who are crucified, also stands out like a horn; and it also looks like a horn conjoined and fixed with the other horns".

To the pagan jibe about Christians being devotees of the cross, Tertullian (c. 155 – c. 240) responds by saying the pagans no less adored images of wood, with the difference that they worship what is only part of a cross, while the Christians are credited with "an entire cross complete with a transverse beam and a projecting seat". He then adds that "the very structure of our body suggests the essential and primal outline of a cross. The head ascends to the peak, the spine stands upright, the shoulders traverse the spine. If you position a man with his arms outstretched, you shall have created the image of a cross."

Justin Martyr also states: "That [passover] lamb which was commanded to be wholly roasted was a symbol of the suffering of the cross which Christ would undergo. For the lamb, which is roasted, is roasted and dressed up in the form of the cross. For one spit is transfixed right through from the lower parts up to the head, and one across the back, to which are attached the legs of the lamb.

I have been waiting for something like this for a long time to happen. I was forced to leave home when I was 14. My crime? Aside from believing that the WT leaders were all idiots in the aftermath of the failed 1975 prophecy and having a bucket mouth about it; I visited someone in the neighborhood who was not a JW.

My dad put everything I owned in the front yard (bed mattresses included) so that all the neighbors could see that my JW Dad had rejected me.

It is really bad if you wake up too early as a JW kid. The perverts, druggies, and abusers are all lined up waiting for you. It is evil for JW parents to abandon their children or mentally abuse them until they are forced to leave when they point out false prophecies and other gross hypocrisy. People died during the 20 years that organ transplants were banned. A lot of kids are simply not as gullible as their parents and are discarded for it.

Children have rights.

The world knows what happens to pretty young teenage girls who find themselves homeless. This is criminal.

Stan, I think it is more of a protective gesture to prevent his wife from getting too close to a diseased mind speaking against their organization. Wouln't want any of her poison to rub off on his wife.
